Contra dance is a friendly, inclusive dance form. A Contra Ball does not require that you bring a partner or know how to dance. As you can see from the "formal" contra dance photos on this page, you don't even need a fancy dress or tux. On the other hand, a ball is a fine excuse to dress up if that's your style.
There will be free lessons provided by Diane Silver, one of the nations finest contra "dance masters" (she is also an ecology instructor by day). Live music will be provided by Land of Sky, which includes some of the nations most sought after contra musicians. This caller and band was selected not only for their skill at creating a magical evening of dance but also for their dedication to environmental stewardship.
Waltzing and Swing dance music will also be offered during the course of the evening. Refreshments will be provided.
